A Limited Edition dedicated to one of the most fascinating places in the Middle East, featuring a splendid green dial with geometric patterns.
Arabia is one of those remote lands that are traditionally shrouded in myths and legends. Its deserts are endless seas of scorching sand with few happy islands, oases where weary travelers could find well-deserved refreshment in ancient times. The intense green of those patches of palm trees and bushes inspired this new Nereide 39 GMT Limited Edition, produced in only 200 pieces.
Details are the key to understanding this timepiece. The surface of the dial combines a sunburst finish with a wonderful geometric texture engraving, which recalls one of the most used decorative motifs in Arab art. The name of the model “Nereide GMT” is also written in Arabic, just under the hands shaft.
A distinctive trait of Venezianico GMT collections is the two-tone bezel made of BK7 optical glass, featuring a special mirror finish on the lower half. In this Limited Edition the 24 numerals, on which the time zone can be read, are printed in Arabic characters.
The case back shows the time zones of the major cities in the world and, in the center, the profile of the current borders of Saudi Arabia. The 90-year anniversary of its independence has suggested the theme of this new release.
The movement that powers this timepiece is Seiko NH34, the new GMT caliber launched by the Japanese watchmaker in June 2022. Besides Seiko itself, Venezianico was the first company to use it. The mechanism is enclosed in a 39mm 316L stainless steel case, waterproof up to 200 meters, which alternates polished and satin surfaces, recalling the sinuous Canova bracelet too.
